Bagatelle | MeatPacking District | Manhattan

Bagatelle, from the Italian word bagattella, meaning 'a trifle', many refer to the extravagant party thrown in Louis XVI's honor, which we're sure this restaurant was founded upon. The NYC flagship location (Las Vegas, Miami are also worth mentioning) is centered in the heart of Meatpacking District (MePa) and widely known for their over-the-top champagne brunches and vibrant nightclub atmosphere. However, it's the menu that often goes overlooked by many when they dine and we give you the scoop, perhaps befitting our own tagline.

River Dock Café | St George | Staten Island

River Dock Café is a neighborhood gem, and found within the Saint George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island. While some restaurants try to be all things to all people, River Dock doesn't pull any punches- They excel at what they're known for, and that's seafood. However, it is also more than a seafood restaurant and we explain why we believe they're worthy of 4.8/5.0

Wooly's Shaved Snow | Times Square

Wooly's Shaved Snow
Wooly's shaved snow is a product in the right place at the right time. An evolution of frosty desserts, their take on the snow phenomenon is as good as advertised. This brought us to how we rated it 4.8/5.0

Spicebox Crêpe | Chinatown

("Tokyo in a Bite")
Although crêpes of the French variety by-and-large are not new to NYC, Japanese-style crêpes are still very much alive, kicking, and trending.  It's Spicebox Crêpe's balance of quality, price and location that gives them our nod for an overall rating of 4.5/5.0

Oh! Taisho | East Village

Definitely a place you can count on for your drunken revelries. Watch your step, though!  (It's actually below ground level)  Yakitori which is a favorite here complement the Japanese izakaya found here amongst the other popular option in St. Marks, East Village.

Amélie French Wine Bar | Greenwich Village

Sack of Bread, Escargot, Salmon Crostini
Sack of Bread, Escargot, Salmon Crostini
Simply put, it is the best place for a night out after work, or a date night with the SO. Amèlie simply tops the list for anything you might want to look for in a favorite wine bar. If you know of any that's better, drop me a line, b/c i haven't found one yet!

The Cinnamon Snail | Flatiron

Gochujang burger deluxe
(Gochujang burger deluxe)
I visited the Cinnamon Snail at the final week of their successful journey through the food truck scene. Coined as perhaps one of the most instagrammed vendors in 2014, Cinnamon Snail in 2015 sure didn't disappoint either.  Their food is just as advertised, and deserving of the 5.0/5.0 and here's why.

Pasticceria Rocco | Bay Ridge | Brooklyn

Black & White Cannoli
Rocco's Exclusive: Black & White Cannoli
Summary: 4.2/5.0 Gorgeous café (serving up breakfast/lunch too) and ambiance without the legions of tourists from the West Village store.

My Brisket House | Bay Ridge

Corned Beef
Corned Beef from David's Brisket House
Updated (2/4/16: David's Brisket House is now My Brisket House)
An extension of the original David's Brisket House in Bed-Stuy (you'll definitely want to visit that too), I've followed the story and was a fan soon after they first opened in Bay Ridge. I have absolutely glowing remarks for this sandwich shop from the start.  While David's Brisket House specializes in brisket, the real winner here is the award-winning, absolute best corned beef and pastrami this side of Brooklyn.

The Boil | Lower East Side

The Boil is a bayou-style seafood joint that opened in the LES in early 2013 to high acclaim. Everything you've come to expect from The Big Easy are here, from the brown paper lined tables, the bucket used to dispose of cracked shells, food served by the pound, and the garlic and butter sifting through the air.

Monaco's Bakery & Cafe | Bay Ridge

Rainbow Cake

Monaco's Bakery, opened in 2011, lauded for their wonderful cakes, attentive customer service, and delectable desserts warrant multiple mentions in Time Out NY, CBS, and NY Daily News deserves to be in the conversation of one of the top bakeries in NYC. They're really a five star bakery and here's why.

Mike's Donuts | Bay Ridge

amazing donuts from Mike's Donuts
A trio of fun
Mike's Donuts is figuratively the Peter Pan Donuts equivalent of South Brooklyn. There, I said it. There is no substitute and let it be known that they make their donuts fresh daily on-premises.

Everything looks and smells wonderful and as with establishments that's been around since 1976, they have a huge following.  Let me say this- I'm now one of them. Of course, as with most businesses from the '70s, their decor is also stuck from that era. There's not much to look at. WiFi? Creature comforts? Don't ask about it. Customer service is friendly but atypical of Brooklyn, heavy handed, so get a clue as to what you want to order, pronto!

12 Corners | Mott St Chinatown

12 Corner's latest outpost extends into Chinatown, 121 Mott St. replacing the outgoing beleaguered Orange Teahouse.  Time will tell how they fare against the glut of Chinese coffee shops and bakeries in Chinatown but one thing is clear, service and premium coffee drinks you've come to expect from the sister shop on East Broadway are here as well.

Ba Xuyen | Sunset Park

Hands down one of the best traditional Bánh Mì (Vietnamese Sandwiches) i've had in Brooklyn and for the most part, NYC.
