Ladybird Bakery | South Slope | Brooklyn

Brooklyn Blackout
Definitely one of the best bakeries in NYC even if it's technically in Brooklyn. This is the sister bakery to Two Little Red Hens, which for all intent and purposes, is off the beaten path for most New Yorkers- deep in South Slope and accessible by F/G and driving.  Fortunately, their goods can be found in many eateries within the city limits. You just have to look, and you'll find them easily. The staff is amiable and patient. The bakery itself is a quaint (read: cute and small) delight to visit... and visit I have- several times already. 5.0/5.0

Amongst all the choices available in the display in the way of cakes, tarts, is the vast assortment of popular cupcakes, which I gravitate to all the time... perhaps the problem is choice. If you've never had their hallmark Brooklyn Blackout cupcakes, hang on, you're in for a wild ride. That's what I get each and every time, and the thing most recommend you try as a first-timer.
Brooklyn Blackout & Coffee

It's fudge-y goodness surrounded by chocolate cupcake upon chocolate frosting with chocolate shavings adorning the top. Unfortunately, everyone can tell you what it is... but you'll have to try it for yourself. Simply Phe-NOM-enal! And I'm not a big fan of chocolate.

I've had the carrot and red velvet cupcakes, which although good, comes nowhere near the decadence of blackout.  Food explorers will find a the quaintness of this store trip-worthy amongst other eateries you can visit in this stretch of Park Slope. 5.0/5.0
