    Bang Bang Shrimp

One of our many all-time favorite comfort foods has to be Bang Bang Shrimp. I'm sure anyone who has ever dined out can relate.  What's Bang Bang Shrimp you ask?  It's seafood with a kick, a little spicy, a little sweet, a little creamy and topped with sesame seeds!  Simple, to the point, easy to pick up, hard to put down when the entrees arrive at the dinner table. Our fondness for eating out will never abate, but one thing's for sure, you can always bring this one home and make it for any occasion. Game night, movie night, an extra platter to complement any family meal -- The possibilities are endless since it's just so darn adaptable. We worked with Gorton's to bring back this classic appetizer to your table since we realized first-hand, just how easy it is to make!

    3-Ingredient Bang Bang Shrimp

That's right, you only need (3) THREE main ingredients for this one.  There are no secrets I'm going to withhold from you other than how to take photos.  (That's a lesson for another day)  Just make sure to pick up a few boxes of Popcorn Shrimp and/or Butterfly Shrimp from the frozen food aisles of your local supermarket. Ours happens to be Shop & Shop as well as Key Food in the NYC area.

    BANG BANG SHRIMP 💥💥🦐

    Ingredients:
2 packages of Gorton's popcorn or butterfly shrimp
    8 tbsp mayonnaise
4 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce
+ Add hot chili sauce (optional, to give it more kick)
1 tsp Everything bagel season (sesame seeds to stsy true to the original bang bang shrimp)
1 tbsp diced red cabbage (optional, for color)
1 tbsp diced scallions (also optional, for color)

    Directions:
    • Mix mayo and sauces in a bowl (for coating shrimp after it is fried)
    • Fry the shrimp until lightly brown, stirring occasionally to prevent them from sticking together. You can use either a deep fryer on medium at 375°F or pan-fry on medium-high for 3-5mins each side.
    • Remove shrimp from pan and drain shrimp on paper towel. Make sure you pat off the excess oil!
    • Put shrimp in a bowl and coat with the sauce. If you're OCD like me, put the sauce in a small sauce bowl and plate for presentation.
    • Top with sesame seeds for that classic look. To raise it another level, try it with Everything Bagel seasoning! 🔥 Add in purple cabbage, scallions, or some other favorites to garnish.
    Serve & Enjoy!

    Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos
    Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

We went as far as building our very own Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, Just add tortillas! Now that's BOMB! 💣  Some other variations I've worked with besides having it as a side are adding pasta (farfalle are my favorite, but linguini would work well too), rice and veggies, throw them into udon/ramen, you can bake them instead of frying, skewers, wrap them in bacon, throw them on pizza. For something healthy, try them alongside quinoa. I dare you to top them on a burger! 🤔

Let us know via email or comments how you decided to build your own variation on this classic!  Thanks for reading!
